About the Artist
I create abstract works inspired by cartography, architecture, and technical drawing.
With one parent a cartographer and the other an architectural draftsman, these elements have been a part of my life since my very early days.
When I was a child, my mother would bring home pads of paper cut from test prints of scientific agricultural maps. Some were of maps she had worked on herself, created by hand. I made my own drawings on the white backs of those pads but also found myself staring at the maps and marveling at their intrinsic beauty.
In my teens, my father gave me my first set of technical drawing tools. Inside its lovely hard case were compasses, pens, and mechanical pencils, each precisely engineered and gleaming in polished chrome. I still use them to this day.
